SOS BC Joins Peak of Christmas at Grouse

5th ANNUAL PARADE OF TREES

Thirty corporations will sponsor trees for $1,000 and try to outdo the competition with dazzling decorations – it is a prime opportunity to brand a tree and incorporate company messaging, as well as enjoy the season.

Tree decorating takes place on November 29th, 2007 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm and light refreshments and snacks are provided to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

It is a great team building activity, with opportunities to enjoy other activities up at Grouse as well – the skating rink, the hustle and bustle atmosphere, the outstanding view!

A VIP cocktail reception, will be held up at Grouse Mountain to launch the Parade of Trees on Thursday, November 29th, 2007.   It is a beautiful night of wine, food, music, lighting of the trees, awards for the favorite trees (ie. best corporate branding, judge’s favorite, most creative).  150 to 200 are expected to attend – with all our key partners invited!

From December 1st to 25th there are over 100,000 coming up to Grouse to enjoy the Peak of Christmas.  Imagine them heading up the tram, passing through the clouds, looking at the city beneath and just as they pull into the terminal, the tram operator points out the Parade of Trees to the right – where all the lights are illuminated and shining through the floor to ceiling windows of the chalet.  They are encouraged to view them close-up as their first taste of Christmas.

SANTA’S WORKSHOP

Once off the tram, you see Santa’s Workshop.

The skating rink, skating hut and surrounding area is the hub of Peak of Christmas.  The area is in full view as you come off the gondola, with a stunning BC Hydro PowerSmart lighting display.  From December 1st to 24th pictures with Santa take place with donations going to SOS BC; sleigh rides depart from this location; and the skating rink is packed.  Skating is available for those coming up to decorate on November 29th.

SOS volunteers and staff will be up at the mountain for three weeks during the Peak of Christmas, as not done in the past.  The intent is to increase the communication, event organization, and participation in the activities, including the viewing of the Parade of Trees and scavenger hunt.

A media campaign of well over $50,000 is in place to help promote the event and new elements.  Global TV, Jack FM, Vancouver Sun and North Shore News have agreed to participate.

For SOS Children’s Village BC and our partners, it is an opportunity to really showcase their organizations, have a ton of fun, and at the same time make a difference in the life of children.
